He does this every 52 years

Think back to 1974 and try to remember what you were doing. A lot of sad news stemming from the “Troubles” in Northern Ireland, the first “Good Beer Guide” was published, the BBCs Vernon Kay was born and HE Bates died. All newsworthy stuff but quite remarkably that was the year when a certain Mark Master Mason first took the Chair of Adoniram. That Marked Man went on to a career in Masonry that took him to the dizzying heights as Provincial Grand Master in the Mark Degree. Yes, you know him as RW Bro Peter Connolly PGMO, PPGM.
Those in attendance
On Monday 5th October 2026, W Bro Stephen J McNee PPrGJO had the honour and privilege, to install Peter into the Chair of Clarence Mark lodge 447. A shortened version of the ritual was adopted for the purpose with Stephen having the full support of the Lodge DC, W Bro Brian Boothroyd PPrGJW and the Junior Warden, W Bro Alan Lowe PPrGJW in delivering addresses.

The galaxy of Grand Officers witnessing the event included the Deputy PGM, VW Bro Giles Berkley PGJO who was supported by The PrDepGDC W Bro David Rigby and PrAsstGDC W Bro Paul Shirley.

Once the ceremony was complete, and compliments passed, the brethren retired to a sumptuous festive board commencing with mussels followed by Soup and Lamb shank and ended with a very messy Eton mess. Whilst the wine flowed, stories were told and toasts were given, Peter was overheard to say, “I will do this again in 2078”. Or I bet he was at least thinking that!
